Current Wine Club Bottle Brigadiers:

We are excited to release our 2007 "Estate" Cabernet Sauvignon and our NV “Suerte” Red Wine. As a member of our Bottle Brigade Wine Club, your wine will be shipped to arrive on Friday, 2/12/10 or Saturday, 2/13/10 just in time for Valentine’s Day. Please let us know if you’d like your shipment to arrive on a different day, or held for pick-up at either our winery in Creston or tasting room and warehouse in Emeryville.  

We added new benefits to The Bottle Brigade this year: a 25% discount on all orders plus a 30% discount on multi-case orders. Since the beginning of our vineyard, we’ve believed in sustainable winemaking, and this year, the 2007 “Estate” and NV “Suerte” were bottled in 100% recycled or sustainable packaging so we’re passing the production savings onto our Wine Club. (Although, our baby-doll sheep have earned a bonus for their great weed control in 2009).

We’re also partnering with Chabot Space & Science Center this year because of the overwhelming attendance of our meteor shower and wine party event last year. Each Wine Club Member will receive complimentary admissions to our Chabot events, including the Perseids Meteor Shower Party in August. 2007 "Estate" Cabernet Sauvignon
“The Magnificent Stranger”

The 2007 “Estate” Cabernet Sauvignon is an auspicious vintage. With the thickest and most flavorful grape skins we’d ever grown, we spent most of the fermenting days punching down around the clock and swearing. All of our efforts created a legendary wine- potent and complex with solid tannins, she will gracefully age for 7-10 years. Open a bottle and taste, then wait an hour, an evening, a day, or a even week… her raven complexion reveals a feminine style, medium body, and dense flavors of fresh blueberries, chocolate, currant, cinnamon, violets, and cloves.

On the 2007 “Estate” bottling day, thunder, hailstorms, howling winds, and blackouts interrupted the line, yet she made her way safely without bottle shock. We planned an immediate release date but I started worrying. If released too soon, drinkers may miss all of her beauty- she’s young and needs time to breathe. Then one afternoon, Clint Eastwood walked into our warehouse. I could swear I glimpsed a .44 magnum under his poncho and a Stetson hat on his head. I was in trouble- Mr. Eastwood was shooting a film in our building and I was drinking too loud. He recognized our label, picked-up a bottle of our “Suerte” and said “Buena Suerte!”, (great name for the next vintage), tasted our wines, and I asked him the inevitable question of whether or not our 2007 “Estate” was ready for release. Before I could finish babbling, he declared in his legendary director’s voice: “Release it.”

Our most requested wine is back, first for Wine Club members. Every member gets a 9-bottle allocation of NV “Suerte”. Please respond by 2/11/10 if you would like to purchase your allocation or release it to the public for sale.

“Suerte” means “luck” in many countries, and for us, it represents our “luck in a bottle”. Bottled in 2010, this non-vintage red wine is a blend of our estate cabernet, syrah, and old vine zinfandel. Medium bodied with flavors cassis, raspberry, blackberry, anise, bell peppers, and bay leaves, “Suerte” is easy to drink and pair with meat dishes, curries, and even salads.

Upon arrival, we recommend giving the wine a few days to settle. If you signed-up for case shipments, or if you'd like to add another 6 bottles of any of our wines to complete a case, shipping will be complimentary.  Make your own case and let us know how many bottles of NV “Suerte”, 2007 “Estate” magnums, or any of our library wines to add to your Wine Club shipment (Wine Club Order form). For NV “Suerte” and our 2007 “Estate” magnums, we have limited quantities available and highly recommend purchasing the wines with your shipment.

Meteors & Wine Holiday Party!

This year, we're having a holiday party with meteors in the sky and wine in your glass at Chabot Space and Science Center. Astronomer Conrad Jung told me that this year, the Geminids peak on Sunday, 12/13/09 in the evening and it would be a good year to hang out at Chabot. I offered to bring the wine if he'd man the telescopes. After he agreed, I asked if I could bring some friends...

Celebrate stars, sushi, and the wine with us. Our friends from Yoshi's Oakland will be rolling sushi while the meteors are colliding in the sky. Admission to the telescopes are free, and if you RSVP, wine is complimentary. Our Bottle Brigade Wine Club members get a special treat: a taste of Yoshi's plus two free "Passport to the Universe" admissions to Chabot Space & Science, a golden ticket to the complete Chabot experience (hands-on interactive exhibitions, a full-dome digital planetarium show and a giant screen theater show).
