Message in a Bottle
The Professor (Mom) Explains Our Label The Eden Canyon label is all about family and love. Kung walang haligi bahay ay babagsak Magdidilim naman kung walang liwanag. A house without a post will fall down And without light, the house will be dark.
I am not sure now which Filipino poet authored the above lines, because I’d been away from the Philippines for almost thirty-five years. But these lines stuck like glue in our minds and hearts after Reverend Salvador Payawal, the Minister of the Gospel that married us, used them to explain our roles as husband and wife after our civil wedding on July 9, 1968. “Danny, as the head of your union, you will assume the role of a house post which holds the house together. You are the strength that will provide for your future family’s stability and comfort. Without you, like a house, the family will break up. “And Nieves, you are the beacon of light that will guide your future family to a path of happiness and success. Without you, like a house with no light, the family will be in the dark and lost. This family concept was the inspiration behind our wine label. Danny is the oak tree that symbolizes the strength. I am the moon that represents the light. My daughters are the two stars, which combined radiance makes the oak tree grow stronger and the moon shines brighter. We are a family owned/operated vineyard. We work and play together as well. Cheers! Nieves Catahan Villamin |
